I am proud to introduce graduate student, and Registered Dietitian in the making, Kay Torres. She and I will be working together though National Nutrition Month and into April. I’m excited to welcome Kay!!!
Of Puerto Rican descent, Kay is taking a major role in helping line up guest and conversation for the March 25th Caribbean themed broadcast of Libby’s Luncheonette, as well as for the other shows helping us celebrate the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics National Nutrition Month’s theme– A World of Flavors. Watch for her Facebook Live cooking classes March 11 when she and I’ll Chinese Flower Mushrooms and on March 25th when she’ll showcase Puerto Rican Serenade Salad.
She earned her BS in Biology from Wilberforce University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in nutrition and dietetic practice/RDN from Thomas Jefferson University’s inaugural cohort program.
She is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion and believes that all individuals, regardless of socioeconomic status, should have access to quality healthcare information. Using her multidisciplinary academic experience, she aspires to assist marginalized populations in achieving better health outcomes and reducing social health disparities.
In her spare time, you can find her browsing the internet for new recipes to make for her family. A big part of her life is around spending quality time with her loved ones, and she enjoys spending much of that time eating with them. Another of Kay’s favorite pastimes is salsa dancing with her husband and her friends.
Don’t miss out, be sure to follow Kay IG @kay_rdninthemaking and join us in all the National Nutrition Month celebrations from around the world. Stay tuned!
